Angel

It's been a long time and for that I apologize. So much has happened and changed since my last post. To begin with she has grown into her 3 month clothes in 6 weeks. She took her first trip to both Grandma & Grandpa's homes (Clinton & Boone). She's smiling and giggling (especially when she knows its time to eat...maybe this is why she already weighs over 12 pounds). Mom has been training little Addie for a triathlon. She loves having her legs moved like she is swimming, biking, and running. She is quite the curious little baby, moving her head around trying to take everyting in. Mia has taken to her motherly instincts and loves being close to Addison (this way she knows she won't get left behind). I know I've left things out so take a look at my video (pictures say a thousand words...she's our little angel).

Life of Addison - Day 5 & 6

Addison is quite the little stinker...literally. Although Dad's off work, changing little Addie's diapers is a full time job. The good news is that this means that she is eating well and is healthy. The visiting nurse came by the house yesterday and checked on Bug and Mommy. Addison is 8 pounds 9 ounces, has great color, is very responsive to feeding, and as mentioned earlier has a solid count of stools. Mommy is also doing great. She is getting around well and has been spending her down time cooking some delish meals (thank you Racheal Ray). They were both doing so well on Wednesday that we all took a walk around the block using our Bjorn we got from Grandpa & Grandma Burggraaf. It was really nice to go for a walk again, this time with our whole family, and yes this includes Mia. Mia has been doing a really good job around Addison. All she wants to do is lick those precious little toes (can't say I blame her). Daddy has also been getting some yard work done. He finally got the cow wind vane put up on top of the barn, now we can have a real hoe down, as our neighbor had said. We are all really looking forward to tomorrow when Aunt Paula, Aunt Juli, and Uncle Matt will be coming to visit. I talked to Paula tonight and she remined me that it is their 2 month anniversary, Congratulations! Tonight was Addison's second bath! She does really well and even seems to like it. She is so cute when she gets all lathered up and just stares at you with those big eyes. Tomorrow we are planning a trip to the mall to do a little mall walking (this is a popular sport for most mom's and we just want to size up the competition). On a sad note, daddy has to go back to work in three days. Not looking forward to leaving my precious little girls.

Life of Addison - Day 4

Today was Addison's first doctor appointment since leaving the hospital. She did fantastic all the way through without fussing one bit. This is a big feat considering the doctor required her to be in her birthday suite the whole time. Even when the doctor asked her what color her stool was she produced one on the spot. While we're on the subject of stools, today also marked the first time Addison pooped on daddy. Although I blame this on mom because she had me take off Addison's diaper to try waking her up for her feeding. As for Addison's wardrobe she wore the one piece that Aunt Juli gave her (the one with poke-dots and "sweet" sewn across the chest.
I'm finding that through this whole experience I am more and more amazed by Kim. She is a wonderful mother and cares deeply for those around her. Seeing her with little Addie touches my heart and is what I always hoped loving my wife would feel like. Being able to spend the first week at home with the two people I love most in this world has been both euphoric and life changing.

Life of Addison - Day 3

Addison slept and ate very well last night. Mommy is starting to get a routine going for nursing time and Dad has three jobs: burp the baby, change the baby, and swaddle the baby. He loves all three. Addison has started to smile more. She started smiling during her dreams and now while she is awake. This morning Daddy read the story of Joseph and played the guitar for Addison for the first time.

Life of Addison - Day 2

Addison had a gasy night. Mommy & Daddy tried their best to calm poor Addison but after two hours of trying everything they had learned they decided to call in the pros...call the nursing station. The nurse also could not get little Addie to calm down so we took her to the nursery where we could place her in a swinger. We placed her in the cart and as we were wheeling her to the nursery the vibration of the cart must have been the trick but Addie finally relaxed! Yay! At 11:00 AM little Addison had her first hiccups since the womb, very cute. This morning we saw the pediatrician and the doctor who were both impressed by Mommy's speedy recovery. After Addison got her hearing test they released us from the hospital at 12:00 and we were off. At the first stop light on the way home I turned around to look at Mommy and you and there were tears in Mommy's eyes. She said that she loves Addison very much and wants her always be happy. I told her that we would make her happy, she just wiped away her tears and smiled into your face.

After getting home Mia took a keen interest in little Addison from the start. Mia's nose was moving all around and she was trying to get a view of you in the crib. Daddy took your blanket and a treat and had Mia sniff the blanket and a treat, she seemed satisfied. Mia definitely knows her life has changed dramatically.

Life of Addison - Day 1

Addison sure likes to babble at night. Mommy & Daddy cant help but turn to see if she is 'ok' every time she makes a peep. At 5:15 AM daddy changed his fist diaper and suprisingly found it to be much more enjoyable then he imagined. Day one was filled with welcomed visitors (who doesn't want to show off their beautiful creation?). Daddy has found his favorite thing to do is to hold Addie on his bare chest and sing her asleep. Mommy is feeling much better today and is making a speedy recovery from the birth the night before.
